“Sometimes when you do not find what you want, you just have to make it yourself”. 
That is what Marisol Fernandini-Gaffney, the lifelong health and environmentally conscious mother of 3 and owner of Toats Organic said, after searching for a tasty snack alternative that made her feel good.

These crunchy morsels pack quite a bit of nutrition in every bite… and more.  They are part of the new way of eating, eating nutrient-dense food, as opposed to empty calories.  TOATS conform 100% to USDA food dietary guidelines for a Healthy Diet.  (One that emphasizes whole grains, includes nuts and is low in saturated fats, transfats, salt and sugar)  Each Toats cookie is made of 48% organic whole grains (oats and flax),  contains 22% nuts, (almonds) packing protein, fiber and slow digesting carbohydrates in every bite.  They are made with extra virgin organic olive oil, also wheat, egg and dairy-free.  “Once people try them, they love them, specially kids” said their founder. 
“There is something very satisfying about them.  We feel good eating them.  My husband and I have become addicted to them” said Beatriz Sanders, an avid fan.

Toats started manufacturing in January of 2009 out of a converted horse barn, now a state of the art organic designated facility in Northern Virginia.  From the green factory conversion, to the vegetable based printing inks, no detail has been overlooked.  “Every detail matters to us”, said their owner, “we have aligned our values with our product and are mindful of the consequences our actions have in our surrounding.  We are the change we want to see”.  She credits the iconic book, Cradle to Cradle as the one that inspired her to embrace the book’s principles of the manufacturer’s responsibility for packaging decisions that have the least environmental impact.
